Information on Organic Food


Organic foods are those that do not require the addition of GMOs, artificial hormones, chemicals, antibiotics or any kind of preservatives. The crops used for organic farming usually require manure which is a natural fertilizer to grow. Doing organic farming helps to keep the soil remain fertile and help to conserve water. This way the environment remains unaffected while reducing pollution. Some of the examples of organic foods are fruits, dairy products, vegetables, meat and grains.

Organic Crops are known to Have More Vitamins and Antioxidants

Studies have shown that the levels of antioxidants, vitamins and other micronutrients like zinc and iron are actually found more in organic foods.

For Example –

Corn and berries that are organically grown are found to contain about 58% and 52% of antioxidants and vitamins respectively.

Another study has revealed that organic fruits, vegetables and cereals tend to contain high amounts of antioxidants and vitamins compared to natural fruits, cereals and vegetables. This is because organic plants do not require the use of chemical pesticides. In fact, they are able to produce their own chemical compound called antioxidant.

Lower Nitrate Level

Organic Crops are also known to contain only about 30% of nitrate. Nitrate is a chemical which is known to cause various cancers.
